The student handbook is being periodically edited to reflect the 2022-23 school year. Please read and refer back often. We expect the editing to be done by the end of June. Not much will change but somethings will be added.😊
Communication
Perhaps the most important factors in a successful school year for everyone is open communication between parents, teachers, staff and students.
•Make sure you are on our email newsletter list. If you have never received a group email, please text or email to Virginia right now at 757-717-7187.
• like and follow the Facebook page for the Virginia Beach School of the Arts. Posts are made there about four or five times a week.
• request to join the Facebook page VBSA PTA. Posts are made there almost daily.
•Get on your child’s Class Dojo. Get the app! There is a constant conversation between all the parents in your child’s class, your child’s teacher and school staff. This is a great way to daily stay in the loop about homework, upcoming events and more!
You have Mrs. Virginia‘s personal cell and email (757-717-7187, virginia@vbsota.com). Unless it is an extreme emergency, please do not text or call Virginia (or Samantha, the on site manager) on the weekends. An email over the weekend is fine. Please note that your text, call or email will be answered at their first available opportunity, often times within minutes or first thing Monday. Thanks!
Please ask your child’s teacher their preferred method of communication. If they do give you their personal cell, please respect their weekends, family time and holidays. Our teachers work very hard. They need to have their uninterrupted quality time with their families. Thanks!

PreK & K 3:30-5:00

At Meet your Teacher, PreK-1st grade will be given a fluorescent color coded name card with their child’sname on it. Laminating it is a great idea! Please display it clearly on the back of your passenger visor at pick up. If you don’t you will slow down the pick up line and cause a back up. Proper display lets us call for your child quickly for dismissal.
Please do not exit your vehicle in order to go to your child’s classroom or speak to their teacher. Pick up and drop off car lines are for just that, quick pick up and drop off. If you need to return to your child’s classroom, please park on the far end of the parking lot out of the way of the drop off/ pick up line and walk to your child’s classroom. Thanks!
If everyone can come prepared for the first day of school and abide by these procedures, things will go pretty smoothly😊. Please be patient. We have new families. Please be patient. Expect a long drop of car line at the beginning. Please be patient. After the first week, everyone will get the hang of things and the process will become more and more efficient.
